Stop by the Claire and John Bertucci Education Studio to create your own Suminagashi paper, a form of Japanese paper marbling that dates back to the 12th century.
Take a stroll to the Greenhouse for a sneak preview of future Courtyard displays. Check out the Greenhouse Classroom, where you can create your own cherry tree. Make blossoms out of recycled materials and watch it bloom. Contribute your thoughts and artistic flair to the collaborative peace tree project.
This year’s theme highlights the centennial of Japan/U.S. exchange. which resulted in the gift of the cherry blossom tree to cities in the U.S., including Boston. This time of year, the delicate blooms cover the trees around the city. We have our own blooming source of inspiration and connections to Japan thanks to Isabella Gardner’s love of both Asian travel and horticulture.
