The Crane Beach Sandblast will be held on Saturday, August 7th (rain date August 8), 8 am to 4 pm, at Crane Beach in Ipswich. Build a sand sculpture or just come to view the fabulous creations at this annual family event.

Visitors will likely see giant vegetables, sandwiches, and sea creatures with this year’s theme of You are What You Eat. Prizes will be awarded to the best creations. Competition categories include: Kid, Teen, Family, Adult, Corporate/Organization, and Master Builder.

To add to the festivities, there will be fun, family activities on the beach front from Noon to 3:30 pm including clamming and a scavenger hunt. Additionally, there will be live music and t-shirt sales.

To register in advance, call 978.356.4351 x4015. The registration fee per team (including parking) is $32 and $25 for members of The Trustees of Reservations. Day-of registration is $7/team plus regular beach admission. Sorry, no advance sales for spectators/beachgoers—plan to come early in the day and pay regular beach admission.

: From Rt. 128 (Exit 20A) follow Rt. 1A north for 8 mi. to Ipswich. Turn right onto Rt. 133 east and follow for 1.5 mi. Turn left onto Northgate Rd. and follow for 0.5 mi. Turn right onto Argilla Rd. and follow for 2 miles to entrance to Crane Beach.
