This is also an opportunity to see more of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Salem. His uncle’s house is on the tour, and he himself lived here, as well for a time. When you take the trolley back across the North River, you’ll find two more homes on Derby Street waiting to welcome you. And don’t miss the Hawthorne related sites, including The House of the Seven Gables with its own holiday celebration.
You can also use this website to learn more about other holiday events taking place in Salem. Christmas in Salem is more than a house tour…it’s an entire month of celebration in our city by the sea.
**Please note, because the tour features private homes, it is not handicapped accessible. Also, out of courtesy to our homeowners and their old pine floors, we request that you do not wear high heels.
Ten* 18th, 19th, and early 20th century homes, all professionally decorated for the holidays
Candlelight tour of three selected houses includes the magical illumination of Dearborn Street on Friday night.
