The Birth to Three Center 's wide range of programs for parents and children to age 4 are free and available to all Ipswich residents regardless of income, race, ethnicity, or creed.

Many programs are available to families from surrounding towns on a first-come, first-served basis for a small fee. Call or drop by to register for programs or to receive a newsletter, or check the website.

Weekly Playgroups
Birth to Three runs structured playgroups that serve separate age groups from infant to 3 & 4 year olds. The groups begin and end with a brief circle time and include stories and gross and fine motor activities geared to the child’s age. For babies, it is a time for parents to meet, ask questions and exchange information. Each session runs approximately 6-8 weeks.
The center also runs groups for parents of multiples, for adoptive parents, 'Dad and Me', and working parent Saturday playgroups.

With Cape Ann Early Intervention and North Shore Infant and Toddler Early Intervention, the Center hosts an integrated playgroup for community children and Early Intervention clients who may have speech or physical developmental delays.

Open Play

TIPS↑ top

  • The Birth to Three Center is one of the very few places on the North Shore where a parent can feel totally relaxed to let a crawler or toddler move around at will. The Center has a tiny staff, so always call in advance to make sure open play times or other activities are running as scheduled. There's plenty of free parking in the rear lots as well as on Market Street.
