Blue Coyote Grill, Maynard, MA, Wed 9 Sep 2009

What has happened to this place? They just introduced a fixed price menu for $25.00 which would be good if they actually had what is on the menu (only 2 apps, 3 entrees, 2 desserts, and yet they were out of the filet last night, and not because they were busy). We ordered 2 glasses of Yellow Tail shiraz, which they were out of, and suggested another syrah (not on the menu). As it turned out this was a $10/glass wine, which was not mentioned, (not the $6 we were expecting), and was pretty bad. The family behind us ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, and were told that they were out of white bread? How about a quick trip to the supermarket? Very overpriced food, not very clean atmosphere, almost always empty, make this somewhere to avoid. It used to be so good - it's a shame.

Awful!, Mon 6 Jul 2009

My friends and I had been frequenting this place for over a year now but it has gone downhill. I've heard that there are new owners and it's a shame because so much has changed. It used to be a great place with great service and great food. Now none of those things are great, so we have chosen to go elsewhere from now on. The food is just okay and it takes far too long. The drinks are outrageously expensive. And the service is absolutely horrible. We used to see lots of familiar faces working there and they seem to all be gone. It's too bad because there was nothing wrong with the Blue Coyote Grill to begin with so it's hard to comprehend why it had to change.

Good Food, Great Service...expensive Refills, Thu 21 Feb 2008

The Blue Coyote has great food, no doubt about it. The menu has a wide variety and the nightly specials are always a must-have. The servers are also great. They are always friendly, prepared, and well groomed. However, the last time we were there, we were a little startled to hear a manager yelling at one of the waiters in front of the customers, she should have done that privately. Aside from that, they are the only restaurant other than Chinese restaurants that charge for refills. The prices are good, but not good enough to pay $2.50 for each additional fountain soda, I mean come on! It just makes the owners look cheap.

Nice Place To Watch A Game And Bring Kids, Sat 22 Sep 2007

Waitstaff is used to kids, so they know how to handle them (ie, get the crayons out right away, Shirley Temples, etc,.). Lots of HDTVs in the bar area, so can't miss a play for a game. Food is pub-based; I wouldn't order a filet mignon from a pub anywhere, but if you are looking for a decent burger/fries, or perhaps some Mexican flare, this place won't disappoint. Prices are as expected for Western suburbs; less than 51 Main Street (the restaurant down the street....). It's a nice, family-friendly pub. Go in there expecting that, you won't be disappointed. Expecting a gourmet meal? Head somewhere else....

Wonderful Food, Sun 12 Aug 2007

I have been to the Blue Coyote once before, liked the food but wasn't a big fan of the ambience - the dining rooms are pretty dark, and the bar area can get a bit loud. We went back on Friday for dinner as I had received a gift certificate. Everyone was happy with their orders - I ordered the scallops with the risotto, they were fantastic, the risotto was very creamy and the sauce was excellent. My mom had the scallops special, similar to the one on the menu but with a lobster risotto. My dad had fish and chips, and my boyfriend ordered the steak tips. We also split the key lime cheesecake and the molton chocolate cake for dessert. The portions were huge, more than enough for a second meal, and there prices are very reasonable. I'm still not a fan of the darker dining rooms, but they have the option of sitting on the patio which I think I would try next time (weather dependent). We will definitely be eating here again, though I think I would prefer the food to go.

Try The Coyote...great Value..friendly...easy Going Crowd, Wed 27 Jun 2007

Have been going to the Coyote (for those of us who are regulars we get to call it that) for several years. Never a bad meal. Great variety and not a strain on the budget to go frequently. There have been specials that have turned into regular menu items because of the demand. The wait staff works hard, is consistent and they learn your name and they know what you like (Thanks, Mike). The person commenting on the Refills and Extra Dressing from last fall (2006) should likely dine at McDonalds and stop complaining about a great place to eat. You are clearly not a regular or you would know better.

Excellent Food And Prices, Tue 5 Jun 2007

I have been to the Blue Coyote many times and have never had a bad meal. Highly recommend the Ribs, Tips, or Chicken Saltimbocca. Waitstaff are polite and friendly. Also a great place to bring your kids and still have great a meal without the hefty tab.

Unbelievable Food And Wine Selection, Tue 31 Oct 2006

I consider myself a regular, and everytime I visit the Coyote they continue to surprise me with their range of specials. A steak fanatic, typically I order a Sirloin or Filet Mignon which are cut large and delicious without having to pay the high prices of a Boston restauant. My past two visits I had the Lobster Scampi and the Baked Stuffed Haddock which was filled with Crabmeat and Topped with a Lobster Cream Sauce. Excellent wine selection, even better prices!

Yummy Food, Great Atmosphere, Friendly Service - A MUST!, Wed 13 Sep 2006

The food is always fresh, prepared deliciously and presented by friendly knowledgeable servers. We Love Coming here and were incredibly surprised to find such a great restaurant in downtown Maynard. We love the variety on the menu...if you wanted a Turkey Club, its delicious and reasonably priced or if you'd like a Sirloin Steak, it too is delicious and priced appropriately! A Good Find and A Must Go!

Don't Get Extra Dressing..., Tue 12 Sep 2006

The prices are horrible to start with. So for some reason I forget this and keep coming back...must be the waitresses..they are pretty cute. Anyway, house salad is six bucks, add chicken to it and it's 9, then if you want extra dressing it's seventy-five cents extra! Cheapos!. And my house salad consisted of a healthy portion of lettuce, five tomato halves the size of a nickel, and three super-thinly sliced pieces of cucumber. I'm done with this place.
