Disgusting Place, Tue 3 Nov 2009

We had a birthday party there and one of the kids ended up with feceas on his shirt and pants from the maze. They could not find it because it was dark and we had to change the child and throw out his clothes. They would not make any concessions because of this and when the young man in charge called the manager he said they would not do anything. He was not allowed to give us the manager's name. Why? What is he hiding. The place is not clean nor do they respond well when something happens. It was disgusting and we suggest that you NEVER GO THERE.

Not-so-funhouse (if You Care About Safety), Tue 16 Jun 2009

ok..first off, the abandoned, 1970s plaza where this plaza is located tells you something about what you'll find inside...the place probably hasn't been thoroughly cleaned or renovated since the 70s...there seems to be no concern for safety by the staff...clearly any adult can just walk in the place...we weren't required to sign in/show ID's or wear bracelets...we brought our toddlers to the toddler room, however, kids as old as 7 were in there jumping around...also, adults walk around this 'no shoe' room with shoes on and the equipment does not appear to be cleaned regularly; children were also carrying around their dirty sippy cups and toys (from home in this room...one good thing: you don't need to worry about the 'no outside food' policy..we were able to bring healthy snacks (thankfully, the staff was also clueless about this).

Jan 6 incident, Sun 11 Jan 2009

I was present the same day as this fire written about below. According to a staff member I spoke with, much of the responsibility for the problem that day lies with the building's alarm company, who called off the fire trucks saying it was a false alarm. My understanding was that an appliance was smoking, and while we weren't in immediate danger, the building was evacuated by the staff, but as soon as the alarm company turned off the alarm some parents began pestering to be allowed back in. The chaos was a result of staff insisting we needed to stay outside, parents arguing to get back in, and children whining about the temperature outdoors. This was the first bad visit I've had in years of coming, so I won't hold it against them.

They Ruined My Childs Birthday Party, Tue 6 Jan 2009

I will never go here again!! My child and I have been terribly upset ever since!! Everyone smelled something burning from the start and we were told it was nothing. Then about 20 minutes after the B-day party started, a large amount of smoke was pouring out onto the ceiling, in the back left party room that was full of other guests. It was no where near the kitchen so it scared me to death and I had my child and 20 kids in a closed in maze near that point of origin. Forty terrified guests and others had to evacuate and I had to frantically search for my child, children, family and friends. After standing in the freezing cold for about an hour my party guests and I had to leave without all his party stuff and some of their jackets. My child was inconsolable and has been ever since! The next day I went back to retrieve my deposit, party favors and money for food that guests paid for out of pocket but never received. All which totals about 87 dollars. I had to bring my child with me. He cried the whole way, afraid the place was still on fire. Can you believe, they wound NOT reimburse me the 87 dollars! Others and myself have spent ALOT OF MONEY in this place over the years despite many various broken games and countless hours waiting for someone at a game for tickets or tokens. Well, you would think they wouldn't hesitate for a measly 87.00! I hope whoever reads this thinks twice about going to Bonkers in Peabody MA, in the future, for their child's safety and happiness. It's obvious to me that all they care about is money and not the kids and parents they cater to. My child has to live with the memory of a ruined birthday and nightmares of fire! Bonkers is indifferent and could care less as far as I'm concerned!!

Bonkers Playplace, Wed 6 Aug 2008

If you want a clean place, kid friendly,no better place. Been there 15 times at least,All the help are kid friendly, very clean bathrooms,if you have a problem it's dealt with right away. The food is also good and not pricey. I live in Foxboro, my children Reading, at church one day it was raining and I asked if anyone new of a nice indoor place, Bonkers was it. I was not disappointed. My children now live much closer to me and it.s raining today, I asked them last night if it does rain what inside thing would they like to do, we'll be heading to Bonkers.

Not As Bad As I Thought, Wed 18 Jul 2007

I was apprehensive about this place because I can remember going here as a child and thinking it was a little seedy. The games were expensive and the entry fee was a little steep, however the kids had a great time. It isn't all that new or clean but it was manageable. The food was really good for this type of establishment. The pizza was good and the chicken kabob salad I got was awesome. I'll probably go back however not all that often because the cost (entrance fee, tokens, food) does add up.

Very Expensive, Fri 13 Jul 2007

bonkers funhouse is very expensive. $15 per child just for rides and maze. tokens are equialent to a quarter. some games take 2 or 3 tokens. prizes are awful. not age appropriate for children age 3-12 years old. why do they put candles and lawn stakes as redemption items. they sell animal land toys which is a terrible knockoff of build a bear which also very expensive. food is lousy. watch what happens to the pizza when it's not hot anymore. cheese is not all mozzarella. wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. i'd rather spend the extra money and go to the new coco key on rt 1 in danvers.

Expensive, Tue 2 Jan 2007

This indoor play area is expensive. $10 will get you a bracelet that allows you use of 3 rides and the maze. Then you need to buy tokens for the games which is another $10 for 50 tokens. Bringing just two children will cost $40. Plus a large pizza brings the total to over $60 if you want sodas with your pizza. It is fun but I think Chuck E. Cheese has more for your dollar.

Ripped Off At Bonkers, Sun 27 Aug 2006

Today I dropped my 13 year old son and his 3 friends off at Bonkers while I ran some errands. When I returned, he informed me that the token machine had taken the $20.00 bill that I gave him and only given him $8.00 in tokens. By the time he got up the nerve to tell somebody about it, they didn't believe him because his 20 was too far back in the line of bills in the machine. Also, according to management, their machines never make mistakes, which I find quite amazing. There was absolutely nothing they could do for us to rectify the situation. Wow, what a great place! We'll never go back and neither should you, unless you like throwing even more money down the drain than you intended to in the first place.

Great Unlimited Rides, games Too Expensive, Sun 20 Aug 2006

i find Bonkers cleaner than others, but the staff always seems to get upset when asked to turn on the rides, yes it does seem like it may not be worth turning on the rides if there are just two children going on, but hey isn't that what they advertise, (unlimited rides) and isn't that what they are getting paid to do? But overall it is a fun place and I can't think of any place in my location that offers rides like the ones Bonkers has. My kids love it. Would be a lot nicer if the games were 1 token per game like Chuck E. Cheese.
