selling cloths to children orchid-needham, Tue 6 Dec 2011
What a waste of time taking the time to sell the clothes that one spent good amount of money on, wash, fold and neatly present. The staff was rude, starting from the time I tried to make the appointment. When I got there, they hardly spend more than few minutes to look through the full three bags or look carefully through the clothes . They have a lot of outdated and old looking clothes in store that can't sell that fast, yet they are super picky and rather insulting about the clothing one offers. The clothes I took in were about a year old, wore only few months and good quality from Rugged bear, gap Macy’s. If they didn’t like one, the rest was tossed back at me! They offer very little money toward the purchase since they need to make money and they have a lot of clothes on their hand. For your baby clothes, sell them on your own, on the internet or yard sale, give them to a friend or donate. It’s really not worth the time and effort to take them to this store, they either won’t take it or they will offer very little money. The booking for appointment is extremely difficult.
The Children's Orchard, Tue 22 Nov 2011
The Children's Orchard is a great place to buy children's clothing especially if you don't have a lot of money. Many of their thing are new with tags still on them and they only purchase gently worn clothing for resale. When my nephews were younger I use to take lots of clothing there for resale for my sister in law, anything they didn't purchase was donated to charity. thus helping those that didn't have any money to buy nice things for their children as well as helping those that had some money, but couldn't afford to pay the high prices that they charge in stores. I think it's a great place
Whose clothes are they anyway?, Tue 15 Nov 2011
I have recently brought in some of my children's clothes for consignment this is the second time and I left feeling the same way I did the first time. I do not like the way they take the clothes in the back and you don't get to see what they are doing and when they are done they should show you what they took before they put them in the high bins. Afterall until I sign on that line they are still my clothes. What gives them the right to do that? You have no idea what they are giving you for the items you brought in. I have another appointment coming up and I am going to ask that before they put them in the bins I want to see what they are taking and what they consider the fair market value is for those items. If they refuse then I will not consign there. I'm sure they have plenty of other consigners. I wonder if what they are doing is even legal they did not show me a 'policy' in writing before they started going through my items. I realize I could bring my things elsewhere or donate but in these tough economic times it's nice to get something back for the clothes that you paid good money for. I'm not asking for alot here just a little fairness and good business practice. Maybe they need a little competition!
Won't be back EVER!, Mon 26 Sep 2011
Not impressed brought in a TON of items prob over 300 all name brand Gap, Childrens Place, Old Navy, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Carters. Sizes infant to 12m. A graco swing and 2 Disney store costumes and was offered $20 cash or $26 store credit!!!! I didn't have high expectations but that was insulted after browsing while waiting for them to go through my items and saw many items of WAY lesser quality priced pretty high. Def will not return! I'd rather donate the items and make nothing then sell to them for $20 for them to make hundreds
Terrible Experience (Norwood), Sat 21 May 2011
I drove all the way to this location from my Somerville home today to spend a gift card that I received for my baby shower. I was moderately impressed with the selection (though I was attempting to buy some clothing for my daughter for next fall/winter, and everything seemed very summer-y), However, when I attempted to make my purchase, the gift card wouldn't work in the credit card machine and the owner of the store made no attempt to make the situation work. He was quite rude to me, even asking me to try to make the machine work (um, I don't work here!). A completely wasted trip. I even told him when he once more refused to help me with the transaction that the situation was ridiculous, to which he responded, 'thank you.' Terrible business savvy!
Children's Orchard In Seekonk, The Good And Bad, Wed 7 Apr 2010
I've gone to the Children's Orchard in Seekonk several times as a buyer and had my one and only experience there as a seller. The good - love the bag sale, that's the main reason for going. There's a nice selection of dance wear and shoes and the racks are always full, even to overflowing (don't bring a stroller in there and leave your kids with a sitter for the serious shopping trip!). There's a large selection of infant clothing and not so much for the older kids, but that tends to be the case. I find there's better princes at Mutiple Miracles in Bridgewater though. As a seller? I'm back on eBay. I had to wait weeks for an appointment and took time off from work for it. The clothes were taken to a back room and I was asked to look around the store. I had reviewed all my clothes very carefully, but they only wanted two items for very little money, out of two large garbage bags. Personally, I think they were overstocked, but didn't want to break the appointment? If you're a shop-a-holic and want to get pennies on the dollar for new items, or items worn only once, give them a shot, but you may be better off donating the clothes and getting a break on your taxes.
Good Experience, Wed 24 Mar 2010
I read a bunch of the negative experiences with the Seekonk store but got an appointment to sell my kids clothes anyway. It was my first time selling the clothes. The clothing I brought in was clean and mid-level brand (Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Gap, etc...) - felt it was a very easy experience. I brought in one bin and recieved $76 for it (or almost $100 of in-store credit). They offer a 30% increase if you choose in-store credit. I thought that was very fair. They were friendly and organized. It would have taken me hours and hours on eBay trying to hawk individual outfits.
Friendly, Organized And Clean!, Tue 23 Mar 2010
I feel the need to post a positive review for the Seekonk store after reading such a horrible review from an unhappy customer. I have been shopping there for mnay years and I have yet to find more kind and friendly workers at any retail or resale store around. They go above and beyond to help you find items, they always help me carry my bags to my car and they are extremely knowledgable about brands and products. They have amazing brands that I could otherwise never afford to buy my children on a regular basis. As far as selling there, it does take a while for an appointment, but if you have great brands and clean clothes, it's well worth the time. If you dont like what they offer, just simply take your items back - dont blast a good store.
Not Too Good A Deal-Westboro, Ma Store, Fri 20 Mar 2009
I recently brought some items for consignment to the Westboro, Ma store and I did not feel that I received an appropriate amount for my items. I brought in some good clothes and also a pair of Red Sox sneakers that retail for $50.00 at Olympia sports. My son wore them only once in the house on the day of his birthday...then he decided he didn't like how they felt. They were pretty much new...also bauer ice skates like new....and the clothes and I only received $17.00. I thought consigners were supposed to receive 30 % of the selling price. When I went back the woman was a bit rude and intimidating....they put the bin up high of my items and said sign here and returned a few unwanted items. I really wish I had reconsidered.
How Insulting! Westboro Store, Wed 4 Feb 2009
I would never go back there. I got a measly $10 for at least 15 -10 items. Like another reviewer said they put the items high up in the bin and you don't know what they took until you check your bag. I had some really nice clothes they took and a lot better than the things I saw in the store. The price they charge and what they give you, I think its a rip-off. Not to mention, the lady wasn't that friendly. I was never so insulted. $10 I felt like saying forget it. But she put my things in the bins and I just said the heck with it, I will take the cash.
