Rocky Marciano was born in Brockton on September 1, 1923. A former local shoe worker, Rocky became the heavyweight champion of the world when he defeated Jersey Joe Walcott on September 23, 1952.

The Marciano room features the boxing gloves and the shoes he wore while winning the Walcott fight. Numerous magazines, newspapers, video clips, photos, and boxing statistics are also included in this exhibit. Rocky died in an airplane crash on August 31, 1969. . . He is vitally and warmly remembered by all Brocktonians. His record of 49 consecutive professional wins still stands.....

The entire Heritage Center is open to the public between 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. on Sundays, or by special appointment. To arrange for a special visit, please contact us at 508-583-1039
