new england aquarium simons imax theater photoSimons IMAX Theatre allows aquarium visitors to get to know animals and habitats that are too large, too small, or too endangered to exhibit in an Aquarium setting.

Using state of the art technology, the Simons IMAX Theatre brings science and conservation topics to life, and allows aquarium visitors to get to know animals and habitats that are too large, too small, or too endangered to exhibit in an Aquarium setting.

The Simons IMAX 3-D Theatre is an integral part of the New England Aquarium's educational programming. The giant screen - 65' high by 85'wide - is taller than a six story building! The slight curvature of the screen extends to the edge of your peripheral vision. With the seats steeply-pitched, there isn't a bad seat in the house, even for small children. The state-of-the-art digital surround sound reproduces sounds as soft as a breeze or as loud as a hurricane with equal fidelity. Buy your ticket on-line!

About the New England Aquarium:
The New England Aquarium is located along Boston's scenic waterfront. Its colorful & educational exhibits feature more than 8000 aquatic creatures, including the playful penguin pool as you enter. Highlights of the New England Aquarium include a 4-story glass ocean tank that houses a coral reef display plus an outstanding variety of fishes, sharks & sea turtles.

You can view the New England Aquarium events calendar here. And check with your local library for discount passes to the New England Aquarium & more!

The Simons IMAX Theatre showcases animals and habitats too big, too rare or too dangerous to be seen in the Aquarium. The theatre features IMAX and IMAX 3D film technology, 12 000 watts of digital sound and New England's largest screen. Call for show times: 617-973-5200.

The New England Aquarium is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly. Group rates are available for 10 or more.
