Nearly 200 species of animals are represented in the Buttonwood Park Zoo, ranging from tiny frogs to enormous elephants.

The zoo's primary theme, 'From the Berkshires to the Sea.' focuses on the land- and water-based wildlife of Massachusetts, with special emphasis on creating the natural habitats in which the animals actually live.

Throughout your journey at Buttonwood Zoo, you'll see animals of all kids, including:

River Otter, Beaver and Harbor Seals, Black Bears, Asian Elephants,
Aquatics Animals, Bald Eagle and Coyotes, Cougars and Bobcats, Fox and Raccoons, Bison and White-Tailed Deer, Waterfowl Pond, and more.

Zoo Programs
The Zoo's Education Department and Zookeeper Staff offer a full range of programs on a daily and seasonal basis.

Pony Rides
Pony rides are available for a modest fee on a seasonal basis. The rides are usually available on the weekends in the spring and fall and every day of the week during the summer.

Train Rides:
Train rides around the zoo are now available on the “Zoo Choo Choo” on weekends, weather permitting. Rides are $2 and the proceeds support educational programs and family events at the zoo.

Bear's Den Café:
The Bear's Den Café offers a full lunch and snack menu, as well as Birthday Parties and catering for private functions and business meetings at the Zoo. The Café features a stunning 1,200-square-foot wildlife mural and has a beautiful view overlooking Buttonwood Brook and our deer and bison exhibit.
