At the Language and Learning Lab, we are interested in how young children learn about the world around them! Our research explores the way that infants and children begin to:
*Use words and other symbols to communicate
*Understand references to absent objects, people, and events
*Update their knowledge from what others tell them
*Learn new information from picture books
*Understand the intentions of others during communication
When you come in for your appointment, your child will play a short game with a research assistant. Parent are welcome to remain with their child the entire time. Siblings are also allowed to come to the appointment; they will be taken care of by another trained research assistant. Your child will receive a small prize for participating.
Right now we are interested specifically in children ages 16 months and 20-32 months. However, we have studies that involve children ages 15 months to 9 years!
