Real maple syrup on fresh pancakes is the centerpiece of Mass Audubon’s Drumlin Farm’s annual Sap-to-Syrup Farmer’s breakfast, but don’t forget about our homemade sausage and roasted potatoes! Join us for a filling and fun breakfast on March 12 and 13 from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

Before or after your breakfast, explore the natural history of maple trees, and see how sap is collected from Drumlin Farm's sugar bush. Tours are ongoing between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, and will include a visit to our evaporator, where we boil down the tree sap into the maple syrup we know and love.

Learn how the Native Americans produced syrup and why the season is so short here in eastern Massachusetts. Finish your maple sugaring morning with a visit to the farmyard to see other spring surprises, including baby animals.

Breakfast seatings are at half-hour intervals, starting at 9:00am and ending at 12:30pm. Enjoy our on-going educational maple sugar programming between 9:00am and 1:00pm, and we welcome you to stay at the Farm for as long as you like.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 781-259-2206, or by using our downloadable registration form from the link below. The fee is $14 for adults and $11 for children age 2 or older. Children under age 2 are welcome free of charge, but please mention them when registering.

Tickets for this event must be purchased in advance. To register, please call 781-259-2218.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended, as space is limited, and we often sell out. Tickets are non-refundable, and the event runs rain, shine, or light snow.

4-starDrumlin Farm BreakfastSweet
My 9 and 6 year olds enjoyed our pancakes with homemade maple syrup and fresh sausage in the warm nature center. Afterwards, as we headed through snow left by the previous day's Noreaster, we saw that the griddle was set up outside! We quickly toured the animals: saw the birds of prey and the underground exhibit. We were delighted to visit with newborn lambs and kids--one lamb was only a day old. The big red barn had mules and cows. My youngest enjoyed riding the saddle in the tack room. Then we trudged back up the hill to the Pond Hut, where a syrup taste test fooled us and a storyteller told how the earliest people discovered maple syrup. Our last stop was the vat of evaporating sap, complete with a free sample of just-finished syrup. The nearby sugar maple was tapped, but the sap wasn't running because of the cold weather. It was a fine morning--fun, educational, and tasty--despite the weather.
