Enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride around the Common.

Celebrate winter with Old Sturbridge Village this February!

Chocolate and Valentines Weekend
WinterFest kicks off on Saturday, February 13 with a Chocolate and Valentines Weekend. See demonstrations of processing chocolate by hand using cacao beans in the manner of ancient Mexico, where chocolate originates. Create Valentines, and 'meet' the local woman responsible for the popularity of sending valentines in the United States.

Presidents' Day
The festivity continues with Washington's Birthday and Presidents' Day. Skirts will swirl as the Old Sturbridge Village dancers present a Washington Birthday Ball. Learn various dances of the time, including contra dances and cotillions, which were forerunners of today’s line dancing and square dancing. Take part in traditional toasts to George Washington and other famous American patriots. And if your name is George or Martha, you receive free admission to the Village on Monday, February 15!

School Vacation Week
Throughout the week, enjoy hands-on crafts and special winter performances. Snow permitting, try out our sleds and enjoy a sleigh ride! You will also have the opportunity to watch our craftsmen at work, see hearthside cooking, and visit dozens of historic buildings.Watch in the Small House what it would take to produce a year's worth of candles.

Antique Sleigh Rally
On Saturday, February 20, come and see more than 20 horse-drawn sleighs at Old Sturbridge Village’s Antique Sleigh Rally. The sleigh rally competition will feature vintage sleighs pulled by a variety of horse breeds including Haflinger, Gypsy, Morgan, Arabian, Clydesdale, Percheron, and miniature horses. Participants will compete for prizes in a dozen different divisions including “Sleigh Dog” and “Currier & Ives.”

And don't forget to visit our Craft Center to create a special keepsake of your visit ($5-$10 fee applies to Craft Center activities.)
