Celebrate Samhain is an all-ages celebration of the final harvest and ancestors past – filled with magic, music, crafts, and merriment. Be bewitched by the faery songs of a traditional Celtic harpist; make and take home your own magical crafts; browse the wares of mystical vendors; learn something new in a variety of free talks and workshops; enlist a reading by a gifted intuitive; drum, dance, or sit and be enchanted by Druid storytelling; and observe the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain in a traditional, earth-centered ceremony that honors those who have gone on before...

Samhain (pronounced Sow-when) is the Celtic Pagan festival from which the modern-day holiday of Halloween is derived. Falling between the autumn equinox and winter solstice, it is a time to celebrate the final harvest and to honor those who have passed on ¬ to be reminded of our connection to the past and to look forward to the future.

Children and adults alike will enjoy the variety of craft activities ¬including mask making, pumpkin painting, candle dressing, and a masquerade parade. Other craft workshops include corn husk dolls and dream pillows. Following the ancient Celtic tradition, there will be a participatory, Earth-centered ceremony to honor the natural cycles of life, death, and rebirth.

Come in costume if you wish - we'll also have materials to make your own masks! Bring a pumpkin if you have one - there will be paint and supplies to decorate it for a contest! Children are especially welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is an Earth-honoring, inclusive event, so anyone uncomfortable with Pagan religions should consider this a learning opportunity!

Vendors from near and far will also be selling their wares, including Peterborough-based Pentacle Press, who is co-sponsoring the event. Shoppers will find magical gifts, jewelry, original art, natural crafts, clothing, books, and more. A number of services will be offered as well, including Tarot and intuitive readings and massage therapy.

Hot cider and cocoa, savory soups, chili, and other tempting fare will be available to purchase at the food table. Baked goods, popcorn balls, and healthy snacks will also be sold throughout the event.
