Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory
Other Ideas: Boston Aquarium; Buttonwood Park Zoo; Roger Williams Park Zoo; New England Aquarium: Boston; The Butterfly Place
The sun shines through the glass walls & heats up the conservatory to a 80 degree tropical-like environment all year round.
The heart-shaped pond with Japanese koi graces the center of the conservatory. The sound of the waterfall, peaceful music and hundreds of butterflies fluttering freely through the air creates a tranquil and serene atmosphere.
Visits anytime throughout the year are delightful. It's truly amazing inside, for no matter how many people are enjoying the conservatory, it's still a peaceful sanctuary for all.
Once you've paid your admission fee you enter into the exhibits and display area where butterfly videos are playing. Browse through the various exhibits showing the history and evolution of butterflies.
Lunch is served daily here with choices from homemade soups (delicious!), sandwiches and hotdogs (with all the fixin's), salads and beverages. The beverages are self serve so grab a tray, select your drink and then move along to the order counter & select from our varied menu. There are several options available for you to sit & enjoy your meal or snack; outside in the gardens if the weather permits, in one of our two function rooms, the Monarch Room or the Art Gallery Café, or go back out into the atrium to one of the chairs and tables placed there.
Magic Wings requests that you not use strollers in the conservatory or the gift shop.

Gorgeous placeThe terrariums with insects and frogs are esp. amazing. The butterflies and plants are overwhelming -- stuff I've never seen anywhere. Soft music playing too. Lots of seating throughout -- we were there with a grandma who appreciated being able to sit and enjoy. The food was very so-so -- take advantage of the picnic area. Worth a detour if you're in the area.
Absolutely Incredible!i love this place. I make one pilgrimage each year to see it, since it is 2 hours away. Giant area that gives lots of space to move around and enjoy the butterflies. I was able to get hundreds of photographs. The snack bar has really good food and the price was decent. A nice air conditioned dining room and gift shop were nice too.
