The MetroWest YMCA offers traditional and specialty camp programs for children age 3-15. Programs are broad-based, age appropriate and fun! The camp is located on116 wooded acres, offering the true camp setting to participate in activities such as archery, canoeing, kayaking, drama, sports, arts and crafts, music, outdoor skills, nature study, and challenge/ropes course.

Campers will have daily swim and will participate in the above activities based on their age and camp group. Campers and their counselors take part in small group and unit activities including games, campfires and take part in all camp events and special theme days.

Extended morning care (7:00-9:00am) and afternoon care (4:00-6:00pm) are available at both of our Hopkinton and Framingham Facilities. Busing is available from 12 towns in the MetroWest Area. Financial Assistance is Available.

Camp Chipmunk Ages 3-4
The perfect introduction to camp! This half day program runs from 9:00am to 1:00pm. With a staff ratio of 1: 5 these young campers get a great introduction to the camp experience. Chipmunks will have a daily swim, participate in group games and participate in a different traditional activity daily such as nature study, sports, arts & crafts, drama, and music. Parents must provide their own transportation for this program.

Scamper Camp Age4-5/Entering kindergarten
This full day program for our young campers has a staff ratio of 1:5. Scampers will participate in arts & crafts, sports, nature study, music, and drama and be introduced to outdoor skills and boating. Scampers will have “downtime” after lunch daily and will also have playground time throughout the session. Scampers should be potty trained and self-sufficient in the bathroom.

Camp Carol Completed K-Grade 1
Campers will have the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, sports, music, drama, outdoor skills and boating and be introduced to archery and challenge activities. Challenge activities will have an emphasis on teamwork but will also allow campers to develop self-confidence in a fun and exciting way.

Bob White Camp Completed Grades 2-4
By this age campers are fully immersed in the camp experience. Traveling with their groups, they will participate in all activity areas that we have to offer. Group including being introduced to our climbing tower and high ropes course. An optional overnight experience is available for these campers (one night per session).

Adventure Camp Completed Grades 5-6
Adventure Campers participate in all of our activity areas but at a more advanced level. Campers experience our Low Ropes Course will they will have to work together with their peers to solve group challenges. They will also have the opportunity to experience a number of elements on our High Ropes Course including our Zip-Line. An optional overnight is available for Adventure Campers (one night per session).

Sports Camp Completed Grades K-6
Play Hard, Play Fair, Everyone Wins. Sports Camp is an extension of our successful YMCA youth sports program. Campers will learn the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play , respectful and hardwork while being exposed to a variety of sports. Our YMCA Staff will instruct campers in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, street hockey, beach volleyball, softball, flag football and so much more. The focus is on fun, skills, drills and playing time. An optional overnight is available for campers who have completed grades 2-6.

Discovery Camp Completed Grades K-6
Discovery Camp is based on a variety of different environmental and outdoor themes. Campers are divided into age specific group and will be instructed in areas appropriate to their age. Each session is packed with great activities, projects and games designed to give campers insight and appreciation for nature, the environment, and other aspects of science as well as the opportunity to participate in some traditional camp activities. There is no better venue for this program then our 116 acres complete with wetlands, forest, nesting areas, and nature trails. We also house species of special status, both forest and wildlife. A field trip is included with this program and an optional overnight is available for campers who have completed grades 2-6.

Specialty Camp Programs
Participants will have one recreational swim block each day without swim lessons.

Gymnastics Camp (All Levels of Gymnasts) Sessions 1-5 Completed Grades K-8
Tumbling, strength building, dancing and more are featured in our Gymnastics Camp. Mornings are spent at our Framingham Branch in the Gym. After lunch campers and staff will travel to the Hopkinton Branch for recreational swim and an afternoon of fun and games. On the last day of each two-week session, parents and friends are invited to the Gymnastics Show in Framingham

Circus Arts Camp Session 2 only Completed Grades 3-8
For the second straight year we are partnering with Simply Circus Inc. to provide this exciting and unique camp opportunity. Now available to a wider age group, campers will learn Manipulation Skills such as balancing, juggling and devil sticks; Equilibristic Skills including stilt walking, rolling globe and roman ladders; Acrobatic Skills such as tumbling, acrobalance and jump rope; and Aerial Skills including static trapeze. Professional Circus Instructors and Performers partnered with our YMCA Staff will be leading your camper through this unbelievable experience. Campers will participate in a show for campers, staff and parents at the end of the session. www.simplycircus.com

Drama Camp Sessions 3 and 4 Completed Grades 3-6
Lights, Camera, Action! Drama Camp is for all budding actors and actresses. The talented Joey Talbert, a professional storyteller, and our YMCA staff will work with campers on improvisation and dramatic games. Campers will also work in small groups in writing and performing their own original plays. Parents and friends are invited to the popular Drama Show Performance on the last day of each session.

Robotics Camp 1 week only Completed Grades 3-5
If you like to build things or learn how things work or if you enjoy problem solving then this is the camp for you! Each camper will build and take home their very own Robot! Robotics Campers will participate in different traditional camp activities each afternoon. (enrollment is limited to 20 campers)

Engineering Camp w/Legos 1 week only Completed Grades 6-8
This is a hands-on, experiential, team-based program designed to instill engineering concepts and to foster critical thinking and teamwork. Participants will learn the intricacies of construction, and the trade-offs involved in engineering a product for the market, using the LEGO® Mindstorms System. The participants are challenged to resolve various problems by designing, building, and 'marketing' their own LEGO-based solutions. Engineering Campers will participate in different traditional camp activities each afternoon. (enrollment is limited to 20 campers)

MLS Soccer Camp - 1-Week Camps Co-Ed
Passing, dribbling, shooting, finishing and trapping are just some of the many skills campers will learn and improve on during your weeklong experience at MLS Soccer Camp. MLS Camp coaches have a sterling reputation of being the most qualified and the best in the business. Each must hold the NCSAA National, advanced National or Premier Diploma or international equivalent. All MLS Camps coaches are trained with decades of child-centered research and the revolutionary practices of Strength-Based Coaching, It ensures that each player has a rewarding and fulfilling experience as part of every MLS Camp program. All campers will receive a MLS Camps Ball, T-shirt and Companion ticket to a New England Revolution Game and a written player evaluation.

Skyhawks Sports Camps - 1-Week Camps
All Camps: Completed Grades 5-8
The key component of Skyhawks programs is our superior coaching. Our staff is trained to focus on skill building and participant safety. Each of these programs is overseen by a qualified and trained Program Director. This person is supported by college-age coaches with experience in their area of athletics and working with children.

Co-Ed Basketball
Skyhawks Basketball is designed for beginning and intermediate basketball players. Participants learn new skills while building upon the fundamentals of passing, shooting and dribbling skills. Participants put their newly acquired basketball skills to the test at an end of the week tournament. Each camper will receive a basketball and t-shirt

Co-Ed Flag Football
Skyhawks Football is a great way to introduce campers to a sport rich in tradition, and because it is flag football, the introduction is both safe and fun. Players will learn the rules, as well as strategies for both offense and defense, along with the core skills of passing, catching and de-flagging. Each camper will receive a football, t-shirt and merit award.

Girls Lacrosse
Skyhawks Lacrosse campers will enjoy a fun week of skill-building activities designed to improve their stick handling, cradling, passing, shooting and defensive skills. This program is for girls only and rules and skills taught will be based on the women’s game. Participants MUST bring their own equipment which includes, a mouthpiece, sneakers, protective goggles and a lacrosse stick. Lacrosse equipment can be rented from Skyhawks by visiting their website at www.skyhawks.com. The Skyhawks lacrosse program is non-contact and skill-based. Each camper will receive a t-shit and merit award.

Teen Camps and Programs

Adventure Plus Camp - Completed Grades 7 & 8
This camp is designed for teens looking to kick-it-up-a notch at camp. Teens in this program will spend a great deal of time on our challenge course using the Low Elements to help strengthen communication and teambuilding and High Ropes elements such as our zip-line and pamper pole to push themselves in personal challenges while supporting their fellow campers. Teens in this program will have scheduled programs in the morning, a recreational swim, and then will be able to choose or plan their afternoon activities. Teens will plane and conduct a service project for camp and will also have one field trip per session.

Leaders-In Training (LIT) - Completed Grade 9
LIT’s are preparing to become future camp, school, and community leaders. This program develops self-esteem, peer relations, decision making, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and leadership techniques. LIT’s will learn how to be leaders amongst their peers and role models for younger campers. These teens will spend time in daily trainings and group discussion, taking part in our high and low ropes course learning personal and teambuilding initiatives, participating in a service project in a MetroWest Community, and planning and organizing all camp special events. A Field Trip w/ overnight to another New England based camp is included each session.

Counselors –In –Training (CIT) - Volunteer Program/Completed Grade 10
The CIT program is a training program designed to prepare teens to work with adults, peers and children of all ages. This is ideal for teens interested in becoming Camp Counselors following their Junior Year of High School when they become eligible. CIT’s will be matched with Unit within camp and work with different camper groups within that unit. . A senior counselor will serve as their mentor and CIT’s will ultimately be evaluated the Unit Leader. CIT’s will also take part in several training sessions and group discussions with the Camp Director and Assistant Director throughout the session. The option of CPR and First Aid Training at certain times throughout the summer may be made available to this group for a fee. This program is for teens serious about working with children and improving their leadership skills. Teens interested must apply and be selected. If selected, teens would commit to volunteering for at least one of our four two-week sessions in its entirety. Please contact the MetroWest YMCA for an application.

On the Road Sessions 1&4/Completed Grades 7-9
This is on old camp program back with changes and twists that we are sure your teen will enjoy! The first day of the session is spent participating in group games and getting to know each other while tackling our high and low ropes course. The rest of the session is spent “on the road,” participating in daily field trips. Each day the group will travel to a new destination to participate in recreation, amusement, and adventure activities. Trips may include Canobie Lake Park, Mountain Biking, Boston Scavenger Hunt, Kayaking, the Beach, Hiking, Roller Skating, Fenway Tour, etc. Teens will have a say in the planning of some of their trips and will also spend one day performing a community service project.

Pioneer Trip Camp Sessions 2&3/Completed Grades 7-9
This program is especially designed for the adventure seeking teen. The first week is spent at camp teambuilding and learning camping, hiking, climbing and orienteering skills. Pioneers will also create a menu and shop for their trip food. Week two will be spent traveling for 5 days and 4 nights taking part in outdoor and adventure activities. Pioneers will sleep in tents and are supervised by our qualified and trained Staff.

White Mountain Adventure Session 2 July 9-20
Travel to New Hampshire for an action packed week full of white water kayaking on the Androscoggin River, single track mountain biking in Pinkham Notch, scenic wildlife canoe trip on the Saco River and Mt Washington Summit Hike, the Highest Peak in the Northeast! Experience some of the most exciting scenic views and natural sights that New England has to offer.

The Maine Get Away Session 3 July 23-Aug 3
This trip is a nonstop week for adventure seekers! Step up to the challenge of Hiking and Boating in the Magic and Moxie Falls, white water rafting on the Kennebec River, mountain biking in Acadia National Park, and a sunrise hike on Cadillac Mountain, the highest point along the North Atlantic Seaboard. The best ocean and mountain views Maine has to offer await your teen!
