It's more than our friendly and experienced staff. It's more than our beautiful lakefront property that stays in the memories of our campers long after the summer is over. It's more than our Jewish traditions and celebrations that give the summer a special feeling of community and purpose.
Our staff works year round to plan for those eight precious weeks that will define summer for hundreds of kids. Most of our key staff members are mature and experienced adults. They could certainly make more money elsewhere; but many were campers themselves, and they treasure their summers by Lake Chebacco. That's why they return year after year - and many of them now bring their own children to Camp Menorah.
Recently, the camp was slated to be closed by its former operator. Parents, staff, and campers rallied to save the camp. In a few short weeks, we managed to preserve the property, and arranged for the camp to be run by a new non-profit corporation, Eight Lights, Inc. The best part is that this is all transparent to the campers. Nothing has changed (except for the better!), and everything is in place and ready for another great summer at Camp Menorah
