biobuilder photoBioBuilder is an educational organization that offers hands-on biotechnology and research training, empowering students to design and build biological systems that can solve some of the most serious challenges that the planet faces.

BioBuilder was founded at MIT to empower students through hands-on lab experience in synthetic biology and bioengineering.

With in-classroom, after-school, and dedicated cohort programs, BioBuilder provides exposure to real-world STEM applications to students in urban, rural, and under-served communities throughout the country and around the world.

Session Info
Session 1 runs from July 22nd-August 2nd, 2024.
Session 2 runs from August 12th-August 23rd, 2024.

For the last dozen years, BioBuilder has offered problem-based programs that help high school students design-build-and-test novel biotechnologies.

These hands-on activities help students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper understanding of the principles underlying synthetic biology.

The model sparks a love of life science and opens opportunities for our youngest innovators to pursue science in college and as a career.

This summer BioBuilder is offering two sessions of its flagship Summer Research Program. Summer Research Program students will work in BioBuilder's Learning Lab to launch independent biodesign and bioengineering projects.

Taught by champion educators and PhD scientists from Harvard, Tufts, MIT, and Boston University, this program is targeted to rising 10th-12th graders who want to engineer biology to make the world a better place.

We encourage all interested students to apply ASAP, as space is limited. [email protected]
