Things to do at The Lawn on DThe Lawn On D is a vibrant outdoor destination in Boston's Seaport District, offering a mix of new and classic activities for visitors of all ages.
This inviting, urban backyard features 2 pickleball courts, cornhole, bocce, ping pong, seating of all sorts, wide open space, a refreshment bar with food and drinks and scheduled live music on some weekend nights.
While the popular LED swings are gone, after a 10 year stint, there's still lots to enjoy.
- Pickleball Courts: Challenge your friends to a match on the new pickleball courts.
- Ping Pong and Lawn Games: Play on the outdoor ping pong tables, or try giant chess, checkers, bocce, and cornhole.
- Art Installations: Explore the colorful new "Kaleidoscope Garden" art installation, perfect for photos and a fresh take on public art.
- Food & Refreshments: The refreshment tent offers a variety of food and drink options from a colorful counter, allowing you to enjoy tasty treats while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
- Photo Ops: Snap some pictures in the giant chairs or amidst the spacious, open areas.
- Wide Open Spaces: There's plenty of room to frolic, play, or just relax on the expansive lawn.
Refreshment Tent Concessions
The Food court offers a tented shaded space with lots of picnic tables, fun food and drink choices, and a stage featuring live music on scheduled dates.

Pickleball Courts
There are 2 Pickleball Courts at Lawn on D, Boston. Pickleball courts are open 7 days a week, 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, whenever The Lawn is open to the public.
Courts only need to be reserved when concessions are open/lawn games are out (Thursday-Sunday). You can reserve a court here: lawnond.pickleplanner.com Please see the calendar for availability!
Cornhole Row & Lawn Games
Cornhole row at Lawn on D, Boston. Show off your skills (or lackthereof) with a friendly game of cornhole with friends, family or colleagues. Plenty of room to show your stuff.
Lawn games are only available during concession hours: Thursday from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Friday & Saturday from 12:00 pm to 10:30 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Please check our Event Calendar for closings due to weather and private events.
Bocce Court
Complimentary games, for visitors to play, include cornhole, bocce, ping-pong, and JENGA®. Along the far side of the space, you'll find the Bocce Court at Lawn on D, Boston.
Outdoor Seating
Outside the refreshment tent you'll find colorful seating options in addition to all of the picnic table seating under the tent. These colorful tables are adjacent to the outdoor ping pong tables.
Ping Pong Tables
There are two ping pong tables available with paddles and balls. Grab a friend to play a game of singles or get your doubles game on for some interactive fun.
History of the LED Swings
The LED swings at The Lawn On D were a unique and beloved feature, drawing visitors for nearly a decade.
Originally installed as a temporary art piece in 2014, they quickly became a signature attraction, combining playful design with innovative technology.
These swings glowed with vibrant colors when in motion, creating a dynamic visual experience that delighted all ages.
Although they were removed after far exceeding their intended two-year lifespan, their popularity cemented them as an iconic part of the venue's history and a fond memory for many visitors.
Certainly many a photo-op was had here.
