A short walk from the North End along Boston’s waterfront is this large park which includes a delightful playground.
There is plenty of climbing activities to challenge your child, including the crow’s nest. (This may be a tempting activity, but stay clear of this with a young toddler who will not be able to make it back down!)
Overall, the Columbus Waterfront Park has a great playground (no swings though), excellent views of the waterfront, a pretty rose garden, and plenty of room for kids to run around and burn off some energy. Right across the street, the kids can hop on the Greenway Carousel for just $3 a ride.
The park is also the perfect spot for a family picnic, and not far from Fanueil Hall where you can pick up sandwiches to go. The area also boasts a beautiful rose garden, a dedication to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy who was born nearby, as well as plenty of room for the kids to run around and burn off some energy.
Insider Tip: Because of its great location, this park can become really crowded, and during the school year it's a big field trip destination. Consider going early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.
