Great Time At LimelightI took my girls to Limelight over school vacation week and they really loved it. We spent a couple hours in a kareoke room and they got to pretend they were Hannah Montana. We were doing a trial run to see if we'd book this years b-day there, and it's definitely a thumbs up. The room had a touch screen with a lot of features, but it was definitely easy for the kids to use (and what isn't simple for kids these days?). I found the staff to be extremely professional and very accomodating. We stuck around after we checked out of the room to see the scene in the main area, and it was also fun. I think it becomes a bit more mature late at night, but at pm7 it felt very welcoming for the girls and they even did a song up on Stage before we headed out. We're looking forward to returning next month.
Sweet 16 PartyMy office did an outing at Limelite and everyone had a really fun time. When my daughters heard about it they were after me to visit Limelight. Both are avid American Idol viewers and my older daughter takes voice classes, so I thought it would be right up their alley. I took them in one weekend, and although I wasn't allowed in the room, they came out really happy. In fact, after that trip, my oldest demanded a Sweet 16 there. So all in all, I had three positive experiences at Limelite. We are in Back Bay so the location is nice and I think the price ($20 a girl for 2 hour party) is very reasonable. Although I've been at the venue at night and had a glass of wine ..or two, during the day, I don't think it appears like a 'club' at all. There are big windows out onto Tremont St. and no bar in sight because they do table service in the evenings. I would make a few recommendations in regards to kids events though: they are difficult to reach by phone so easier to shoot an e-mail for a booking, don't bother with the recording because it can stress the kids out to sound good (rather than just having fun) and if you have a teenager book the private room for late afternoon so they can sing a song or two on the stage when that is open at 7.
Not A Good ExperienceMy daughter had a birthday party here several months ago. The karaoke itself was fun, and the kids enjoyed playing on the stage in the main room. However, I never received the cd that was ordered and paid for -- a big disappointment to my daughter and her friends. Limelight never returned my phone calls or emails, and never refunded the money for the missing recording. Also, this is basically a nightclub (and smelled like one), and all they had to offer the kids was bitter bar juice from industrial sized plasic bottles. Not a great experience at all.
FANTASTIC Birthday Party for Young GirlsBoth of my daughters (8 yrs and 13 yrs) are huge American Idol fans, so I wanted to find a place where the kids could sing for their birthday party. We checked out the venue together as their birthdays are 3 weeks apart and I hoped it would work out for one or the other. As it turns out, they loved the venue so much that they BOTH insisted on having their party there. So after planning two events at Limelight - I wanted to write to this site (a first) to recommend this place to other parents. Not only did the kids have a blast, the parents did too. It was so cute to see the kids up on stage rocking out! My youngest is a bit more shy, so had her party in a studio (private room), which was large enough to hold her 25 classmates/friends. The kids got a CD which was the perfect party favor. I know they'll treasure that forever. Also, as a resident of Beacon Hill, the venue was just across Boston Common, which made for an easy walk over (in late summer, anyway!). All in all, I was impressed with the venue, the technology (which the girls had no problem using) and the staff was very helpful.
Best Time EVEROMG Limelight is soooo much fun! They've updated their song library and re-vamped everything. And they have a ton of Bon Jovi and Madonna!!! this place is sooooooooo great!!! they have a huge stage now but me and my friends rented a private room. OMG HILARIOUS!!!
LIME LIGHT STAGE BOSTON KARAOKE NOT VERY GOODI am here to tell you all from my first hand experience of LIMELIGHT BOSTON was not a very good one..First off, they charge you ten dollars just to walk in the door. and also $5 dollars a drink. there selection of songs is not very good either. If you try and ask for a Karaoke song done by say BON JOVI who is very popular at Karaoke sing alongs, they will tell you there not licensed for it? I'm an avid fan of Karaoke Bars, and I've been to almost all em, in and around Massachusetts. No one would ever tell you about licensing..A bar, especially Karaoke ones, are able to let you Sing any song. Anyway, I don't suggest you go to this one, Not if you want to spend $30.00 before you want to sing a song..What a joke.. Or should I say KaraJOKEY!! Disgruntled CUSTOMER.. Ps. The LIMELIGHT STAGE AND STUDIOS are located on BOYALSTON ST BOSTON..DO NOT GO THERE..BE WARNED!
