Since opening in 1999, MASS MoCA in North Adams has become one of the world's premier centers for creating and displaying dazzling and relevant art.
With annual attendance of more than 120,000 guests, it ranks among the most visited institutions dedicated to new art in the United States.
The museum thrives on making and presenting work that is fresh, surprising, and challenging. It is the perfect place to expose the children to what's happening now in the art world.
Kidspace
11 AM - 4 PM for viewing. Art-making activities available on Saturdays and Sundays only.
Kidspace at MASS MoCA, a collaborative project of the Williams College Museum of Art, the Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute, and MASS MoCA, is a contemporary art gallery and studio space in the heart of the MASS MoCA complex designed especially for students, teachers, and families.
For the public, art-making opportunities are embedded in Kidspace exhibitions, making it possible for visitors to process their understanding of art by creating artistic responses while viewing the artwork—an experience that is rare in museums and galleries.
Art projects relate to Kidspace exhibition themes and may involve similar art materials or artistic processes used by exhibiting artists.

the MOCA is a really cool museum.I saw an indoor waterfall that was made of styrofoam, also there was a lot of art drawn directly on the walls by an artsist called sol liwit. His art is really cool because he gives people a set of directions (they are called drafters). Then the drafters interpret the directions and create the art. They also have a kids area where you can use kits to create your own art work.RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
