Located at the base of the Berkshire Hills, Zoar Outdoor has become a leader in outdoor adventures, namely white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and biking. They offer clinics as well as day trips, to suit beginners and experienced adventurers alike.
Their white water rafting trips span southern New England with adventures on the Deerfield and Millers Rivers in Massachusetts, the West River in southern Vermont, and the Housatonic River in Connecticut.
The white water rafting varies from great family rafting to action-packed class IV white water trips. They have high-water springtime adventures, dam-controlled runs in the summer and fall foliage trips that showcase the Berkshire hills at their most spectacular.
Instruction is available in whitewater canoeing and kayaking, located on Massachusetts' Deerfield River. You can also explore the Deerfield as the master of your own sit-on-top kayak.
Rock climbing provides the perfect challenge for a group, family, or individual. Their base camp is only 30 minutes from some of the best climbing in southern New England and their program emphasizes challenge and safety with a low 6-to-1 guest-to-instructor ratio.
Rental bikes are available for exploring the Deerfield River Valley. You can either follow the river upstream or downstream, bike to a state forest, or head up into the hills for a more physically challenging ride. In addition to the activities available, the Outfitters Shop is fully stocked with the latest in white water gear.
