A Brief History of Wilson Farms:
The farmstand that customers see today; which includes the huge timber barn sitting amongst our 33 acres of growing fields, along with the 37,000 square foot greenhouse, - all began in 1884. Two visionary farmers, newly transplanted from Ireland; James Wilson and his brother-in-law George Reynolds, farmed 16 acres here in Lexington and loading their horse drawn wagon, transported their vegetables to Quincy Market in Boston.
Fast forward 117 years and four generations: and you'll find that all five of the first vegetables grown here are still being harvested, and the beloved chickens at Wilson's are still in residence. (It's rumored that a few hens are 20th generation descendents from the original brooders.)
Today, this fourth generation of Wilsons, along with our extended families, and employees, uphold the tradition of hands-on family pride along with that unmistakable can-do New England spirit.
