somerville theatre photoSomerville Theatre has 5 auditoriums. All are fully accessible via elevator.

The Main Theatre
The Main Theatre is the original 1914 auditorium with 900 seats split between the ORCHESTRA and a BALCONY (which for seating purposes we divide into MEZZANINE and UPPER BALCONY).

The movie screen in the main theater is approximately 30’ X 14’. At this time, the main theater only features mono sound but they are planning an upgrade in the next few years.

The orchestra seats are modern and comfortable. The seats in our balcony are the originals from 1914, so patrons over 5’9” might not find them as spacious as the orchestra seats (though if you do like sitting upstairs and are tall, we suggest Rows AA or HH which have more leg room).

Movie Theatres
Our 4 other cinemas were built in 1997-98 and are modern and stylish, featuring our signature owl light sconces.

Cinema 2 is located in the basement and seats 126 people. The screen size is approximately (18' x 12').

Cinema 3 is also located in the basement and seats 188 people. This auditorium features Dolby Surround Stereo and the screen size is approximately (25' x 15').

Cinema 4 is located on the second floor and seats 116 people. The screen size is approximately (18' x 12').

Cinema 5 is located on the second floor and seats 190 people. This auditorium features Dolby Surround Stereo and the screen size is approximately (25' x 15').

Our 35mm film projectors are serviced regularly by BOSTON LIGHT & SOUND to ensure the best presentation possible with our equipment. Our projectionists are licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and are members of the I.A.T.S.E. Local 182.
