Live Animal Program at Spellman Museum (Creepy Crawlies)

Spellman Museum of Stamps -Program features “creepy animals” to get ready for Halloween.

Animals include large snakes, lizards, tarantulas, Madagascar cockroaches and other small creatures. Kids can make free collections of animals on stamps

As part of its celebration of National Stamp Collecting Month, the Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History at Regis College in Weston is having several live animal presentations featuring popular animals on stamps.

On Saturday, Oct 16 at 10:30 Nancy Lamb from Drumlin Farm of Massachusetts Audubon will bring several animals from the farm and talk about how animals prepare for the winter.

On Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 Joy Marzolf of The Joys of Nature will bring some of her “creepy animals” to get people in the mood for Halloween.

Her animals will include some snakes, tarantulas, hissing cockroaches, a lizard and several other creatures.

At both programs, children can make a free set of animals on stamps to take home, do stamp activities including a stamp hunt and join the Museum’s Youth Stamp Club.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children to age 16.

Saturday’s program will be held outside weather permitting.

All state guidelines about Covid will be followed.
Later in the month on Sunday, Oct.

24, programs will be held at 1:00 and 3:00 featuring owls from ”Eyes on Owls” including a snowy owl.

On Saturday, Oct.

30 at 10:30 Animal Adventures and Animal Rescue Center of Bolton will bring some exotic animals which could include an alligator, a large snake like a boa, a chinchilla, ferrets, bunnies, a hedgehog, some turtles, frogs and other reptiles.
