Museum Interpreter and Fiber Artist Kayla Bishop introduces participants to the centuries-old tradition of blackwork.

A style of counted embroidery that originated during the Tudor period, blackwork features geometric patterns, frequently with floral motifs, worked with black thread on white fabric.

It is worked in such a way that, ideally, the back side looks as neat as the front.

Perfect for novice embroiderers or regular stitchers, participants in this workshop will complete a seven-inch bookmark
with a felt backing.
