Relief Printmaking for Kids with Anne Nydam
In this introduction to relief printmaking techniques, students will primarily make a variety of projects by carving and printing rubber blocks, but will also make collagraph printing plates from textured materials, and experiment with trace monotypes.
Students will be introduced to some of the issues involved in printmaking, such as positive and negative space, texture, design with no mid-tones, safety when carving, and different uses of multiples.
Each day will involve an explanation of new techniques, plus time to work on creating the different blocks, as well as printing.
A $25 materials kit containing all the materials needed for the class will be provided (payable directly to the instructor at the beginning of the class).
