In honor of our current exhibition 'The Art of the Festival', learn about the Nepali Lakṣacaitya ritual with us as we make and display 100+ tsha tshas (small votive offerings) by the end of March! In the Lakṣacaitya ritual, Nepali people make 100,000 miniature caityas (a stupa-shaped tsha tsha) to honor a new stupa, such as the one that sits at the center of the exhibition.
At the Somerville Museum, visitors will see examples, learn the hands-on process of molding clay tsha tshas, take one home, and put the rest on display with The Art of the Festival.
This program will run during open hours in March.
