Join us on AHA! night when Downtown New Bedford comes alive with Art, History and Architecture! This month Go Green with AHA! Spring has sprung in Downtown NB & on April 11th AHA! will be celebrating our Sustainable Earth.

For our April AHA! Night, Thursday, April 11, the entire museum will remain open from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with FREE ADMISSION, as we put the spotlight on ocean sustainability.

In the Museum’s Jacobs Family Gallery and adjacent spaces, UMass Dartmouth Biology seniors will present their capstone projects on the biggest emerging issues expected to impact marine and coastal biodiversity conservation in the near future. From wildfires to lithium extraction come join us to hear and learn about what we face and possible solutions to these problems.

In the Wattles Gallery on the lower level, don’t miss Framing the Domestic Sea: photographs by Jeffery C. Becton, presenting a new body of work by this celebrated Maine artist. His digital photographic collages are surreal and panoramic in scope. The layered visual images evoke the past, New England’s varied histories, the maritime world, and contemporary environmental concerns.

On the upper level – in the San Francisco Gallery – OSS sixth graders will have their original artwork on view, resulting from their study of materials from the Whaling Museum to investigate the whaling community and its history.

What is AHA!? (Art, History, Architecture) provides a free platform for New Bedford’s creative community to showcase their talents collectively; making arts, culture, and creative expression accessible to all.

& remember AHA! doesn’t end at 9pm! Enjoy entertainment and food at many AHA! partner restaurants after the clock strikes nine.
