Diversity Tinker Tray Drop-In

11 am-noon | Create Space

Registration required day-of program

Awaken a spirit of joy and wonder with open-ended play with neuroscientist Darcy Moore, owner of Wonder Bitz Play Kits and early childhood educator.

Darcy’s Diversity Tinker Tray draws children in with engaging stories and invites boundless imaginative play and excitement.

Through play and art making, the workshop creates an opportunity for children to embrace diversity and inclusion while reflecting on the differences they see in people.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Darcy Moore (she/her) is the founder of the creative play company Wonder Bitz.

She is a Ph.D. neuroscientist and an early childhood educator with a passion for curiosity-driven learning.

She discovered first-hand the power of open-ended tinkering with her own young children during pandemic lockdowns in 2020 and has made it a mission to share the science-backed and play-equity benefits of loose parts play with more families and schools.

Drop-in Art Making inspired by Each/Other

Noon–3 pm | Create Space

Limited capacity, no registration required

Join us for multigenerational artmaking and contribute an aspect to our fabric applique forest in this progressive, collaborative project.

Be sure to return at the end of the day to see what we created together.

African Dance Performance and Instruction

12:30-1:30 pm | East India Marine Hall

Registration required day-of program

Join us for the opportunity to witness Greg Coles Dance & Drum perform a combination of African and Latin Drum and dance.

Then stick around after any of the performances for an opportunity to learn from Greg and his team about sound, rhythm, ceremony and community building.

Have a blast as you dance, drum and sing, while learning about the historical significance of these dances and musical practices.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Greg Coles (he/him) is formally trained in ballet, jazz, modern, African, and Latin.

He is a former teen Alvin Ailey scholarship student who continued dance training through college.

He has offered African and Latin dance instruction at universities (Tufts, Salem State, Endicott, and North Shore Community College), high schools, elementary schools, dance studios, religious spaces, outdoors, and at exercise facilities.
