Inspired by iconic painter Jean-Michel Basquiat -- who changed the world of contemporary art and used crowns to honor Black heroes in his work -- Wee Wear the Crowns is a community collage activity like no other, with gems, pompoms, African scrapbook patterns, and wall-to-wall images of Black culture for kids to create their very own gold or silver crown.

To get ready for our crown-making, kids will get a burst of inspiration with a Wee The People teach-in and storytime reading of the picture book 'Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.' Come through!
