Nothing good happens after midnight…or does it?

This February, MAAM’s popular Twilight series goes late night to spotlight our current exhibition, Masako Miki: Midnight March.

Throughout the night, an aerialist from Boston Circus Guild performs gravity-defying stunts suspended above Paine Gallery while live figure drawing models serve as inspiration for sketching alongside Makaso Miki’s colorful wool-felted forms.

Get creative with quirky projects in the Barkan Family Big Ideas Studio, enjoy a galactic-inspired mocktail that sparkles like the night sky, and don’t miss a special screening of the critically-acclaimed 2001 animated feature Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli sensation Hayao Miyazaki.

Meet Boston Circus GuilD & Featured aerialist Mandy Hackman:

The Boston Circus Guild is a collaborative, membership-based organization of talented circus performers, musicians, fire artists, dancers and event producers from the New England area.

Mandy is an aerialist, dancer and choreographer.

She has performed on stages across the US and beyond: productions in Boston and the northeast, immersive works with Control Group and Rainbow Militia in Denver, with Sinecdoche Dance, SAWtooth Dance, Mike Kelley, and others in NYC, at the Kennedy center and across the front range with Frequent Flyers Productions, and as a guest circus artist at Darpana, India, and Casa Chango, Mexico.

Mandy has created her own dance-theater work as the founder/director of Tree Project and Shapeshifter collective, which toured throughout the US.

She has built commissioned choreography for many dance, theater and circus companies and has been a featured artist at the Aerial Dance Festival, Excessive Realness Dance Festival, Hupstate Circus Festival, and others.

She has been featured as an event aerialist, stilt walker, and tarot reader.

Offstage, you can find her coaching at Esh Circus Arts & Commonwealth Circus Center, and sharing her love of functional movement as the founder of body inclusive strength and posture service, All Our Bodies.
