Slow down and discover the joy of looking at art during Slow Art Day at the historic Boston Athenaeum.This annual event invites visitors to take a more mindful approach to art—focusing on quality of attention rather than quantity.
Drop in anytime between 9:00am and 3:00pm to explore the Athenaeum’s first floor at your own pace, or take part in one of the guided “slow looking” sessions.
Guided Sessions:
(Advance registration recommended)

During each session, participants spend 10 minutes closely observing a single work of art, followed by a group discussion led by a docent.
It’s a unique way to deepen your connection to art and share perspectives with others.
