In celebration of Pride Month, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Blue Cross), the title sponsor of Bluebikes, is again launching 100 rainbow-wrapped “Proud Bikes” into Greater Boston’s bike share system this June.
As part of this month-long initiative to support LGBTQIA+ health care access across Greater Boston, Blue Cross will donate $1 to Fenway Health for every ride taken on a “Proud Bike” (either classic or ebike).
Once that threshold is met, Lyft, the operator of Bluebikes, will match the donation with an additional $1 per “Proud Bike” ride, contributing up to an additional $10,000.
Blue Cross has been Bluebikes’ title sponsor since the 2018 inception of the publicly owned bike share program, which is owned by the 13 participating municipalities and operated by Lyft.
