Journal IV: The Human/Nature Edition showcases 37 authors, 13 returning writers submitting from 6 of our workshops in Greater Boston, presenting as our biggest and boldest edition yet. This is a MUST SEE!

(Writers Without Margins)
Dedicated to the fusion of art and advocacy, we take literature beyond conventional spaces.

Our mission is to expand access to the literary arts for unheard and under-resourced communities in Greater Boston — including those isolated by the challenges of addiction recovery, trauma, poverty, disability, and mental illness — through free, collaborative, writing workshops, public readings, and publication opportunities intended to empower community, amplify the voices of individuals, and to share stories with the world.

(Journal Volume IV: The Human Nature Edition)
This years Journal showcases 37 authors, 13 returning writers submitting from 6 of our workshops in Greater Boston, presenting as our biggest and boldest edition yet.

And, although the following pages may demonstrate a year of stability and growth in our programs, they are also a window into the complicated, and often dangerous, world we inhabit.

This year, two of our contributors were incarcerated.

One returned home.

One very likely may not.

This year, three of our workshop participants fatally overdosed.

Two have submissions in the journal.

One did not have time.

In communities where incarceration is far too expected, in a year where overdose statistics are higher than ever, we can’t expect alarming facts to be merely distant figures.

These are not just numbers, but friends we are sitting next to in our workshops, and they have reached out to offer their writing to you.

Each year, we look at the overall theme of the collection after reviewing submissions, rather than asking for contributors to submit works related to a particular idea.

I would not have predicted that the predominant theme of this year’s journal would have been interconnectedness with one another and the natural world.

(The Journal Reading)
Every year, Writers Without Margins publishes eclectic Journal of Poetry & Prose.

The Journal consists of Pieces collected from participants of their creative writing workshops and then displayed in front of an audience for those that want to share.

This Year, we have a diverse group of men and women, proudly sharing their poetry with us.

This is the fourth Journal being shared with the world and we've decided to open the doors to anyone that is interested in hearing more from this amazing literary collection.

Entry into the event is free and their will also be free refreshments once inside.

The reading typically takes 1 hour, but it is recommended that guests arrive 30 minutes prior to the reading, to gather refreshments and ensure seating.
