Monday, February 18 — Friday, February 22, 2013 | 9am – 3:30pm | Public School Vacation WeekParticipants will explore musical selections from Broadway, operetta, and opera works that portray Asian cultures onstage.
Students will learn fundamental vocal techniques for singing and acting, practice basic movement and dance techniques from Asian performance traditions, and create authentic character-studies of classic roles.
By rehearsing excerpts from works such as The King and I, Miss Saigon, The Mikado, and Madame Butterfly, students will experience how operatic singing is relevant to classic and contemporary song, and examine important historical and social themes in each piece.
The workshop will culminate in a final demonstration for family and friends.
