The Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, presents the 14th annual Aurora Borealis: A Festival of Light and Dance.

Aurora Borealis is a vibrant exploration of the relationship between light and form, featuring dance and movement pieces by faculty and students.

The production will be held at the Boston University Dance Theater with a focus on collaboration and experimentation.

There will be an open dress rehearsal on Sunday, December 6, 7:30 p.m. and two performances on Monday, December 7, at 7 and 9 p.m. The performances are free and open to the public.

Eliza Ryan and Micki Taylor-Pinney are the artistic co-directors with lighting designed by Kelly Martin.

This year’s concert will include:
• Us, Them, You, and Me is a collaboration between Ghanaian musician Michael Ofori, choreographer Eliza Ryan, and students from the College of Fine Arts School of Theatre that explores the relationship between identity and love.

The piece evolved from Light and Movement, a course taught by Ryan and Mark Stanley.
• Students from Dance Faculty, Liz Roncka’s Movement Improvisation class.

• A group work by Aerial Dance Silks instructor, Marin Orlosky-Randow, is in collaboration with her students.

• A trapeze solo by Katherine Olsen and a trapeze duet by Anna Schechinger and Caitlin Miller were developed with mentoring from instructors Marci Diamond and Molly Baechtold.
• Leeah Stickelmaier’s aerial lyra hoop solo was mentored by Marci Diamond.
• A lively medley of pieces was created by Dance Faculty instructor, Jossie Coleman, for her Hip Hop and Cardio Jazz Funk classes.
• Adam Barrameda’s solo explores the inherent romance of traditional balletic movement and as experienced by this young American male today.

This program is partially funded by the Boston University undergraduate student fee.
