In a new exhibition at Boston’s Society of Arts + Crafts (SA+C), craft artists from around the country get playful exploring the markers of childhood through the lens of an adult.

The toys, games, and kinetic objects in the show cover mediums from ceramic to textile to metal, and take as inspiration the mostly blissful side of play.

But while play is at this exhibition’s heart, sinister undertones and political commentary underlie some of the work, serving as a stark reminder that childhood is not the protected bastion it once was thought to be.  Gallery hours and exhibit information is available at societyofcrafts.org.
