This year, Earth Month programming at The Umbrella extends all across our programs throughout April, from our Visual Arts Gallery to our Youth and Teen Vacation Week programs and Free Family Drop-in Days...and, of course, our celebration of Earth Day on April 22! Musketaquid Earth Day Celebration is a grand scale culmination of several local Earth Week festivities that pay homage to International Earth Day.
Join the Umbrella community for a creative, family-friendly celebration of Earth Day. Build and launch an Earth Float, enjoy live music and performances, partake in arts & crafts, and complete the Earth Month Exhibit scavenger hunt.
Schedule of events:
10am: Welcoming Ceremony on The Umbrella's front lawn

Musketaquid Earth Day History
For many years now, Musketaquid Arts and Environment, a program of Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, has honored Mother Earth by devoting a special week in the Spring to celebrating the natural beauty of the Concord area, aptly described by Massachusetts’ first people as musketaquid, the place where the waters flows through the grasses.
During this time, Musketaquid rallies in a big way by presenting their own Musketaquid Earth Day to pay a special artistic tribute to Concord’s beautiful natural surroundings, long recognized by the likes of Thoreau and Emerson.
