All is quiet on the Acton School Street Fields (off Route 2 in Acton near Concord line) now but in under a month the place will be full of summer.

The Acton Lions Club is leaping into action to host the biggest town fair in years.

The Acton Lions Town Fair annually coincides with the end of the school year.

This year the fair is opening Thursday June 16th at 5:00 PM for “School is Out” Night and closing on Sunday June 19th at 9:00 PM.

Acton Lions King Lion, Joe Galletta (highest ranking Lion) says, “We love giving the region a place to celebrate the end of the school year and have fun.” Each year the Acton Lions with the support of the town, team up with New England’s Fiesta Shows who bill themselves as a “travelling amusement park”.

This year the fair will have events which extend the amusement park experience.

The Lions have created the notion of the Lion’s Fairground which is the area where they will be running events.

Acton Lions Fair Chairperson Steve Rubner “The fairgrounds allows us to hold multiple events so we can have something for everyone.

For example, June 16th is School is Out Night.

We have partnered with local Radio Station 105.7 WROR to bring in a street team to increase the experience.

In addition, the Lions will provide a free ice cream (until the kids eat it all) and discount bracelets to the amusement park”.

Friday June 16th is Military Appreciation night with a concert by New England country music award winning prodigy Jimmy Connor.

The Lions will make a contribution to a veterans group as a result.

In addition, prior to the band taking the stage, there will be free country line dancing instruction as well.

Saturday June 18 is Acton Community Day where participating schools in the area get a chance to help local PTO’s.

The Lions will provide a contribution to the local PTO’s for students and families who pre-register.

The day starts at 9:00AM with a crafts fair and flea market and then events for kids anchored by an inflatable (bouncy house type construction) obstacle course.

Meanwhile, all through town, people will be hunting for clues to the Chamber of Lions Treasure Hunt.

The Chamber of Commerce and Lions have teamed up to devise a fun way to test your wits and win a treasure.

Sunday honors Father’s Day with a 32 – two person corn hole tournament with a $150 top prize.

King Lion Joe Galetta closes with “The Lions are helping less fortunate people.

Come to the fair and help people while you have a good time”.
