We invite you to be a part of a unique cultural and historic experience through Baltic Centennial events planned for Boston in November and hosted by two US-based Baltic non-profit organizations.

The three days of events held November 23-25, 2018 at the Marriott Copley Hotel, Paramount Theater, Symphony Hall, and other landmarks around Boston will celebrate 100 years since Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania declared their independence.

Guests can join us for single events, the entire day, or the whole weekend to honor the Baltic spirit and help us celebrate 100 years.

General

Some of us were born in free Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania before World War II; some of us were born in one of the three Baltic countries during the Soviet occupation; some of us were born during the flight to freedom; some of us were born in refugee camps; some of us were born in the USA; and some of us were born in the once again free Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — what brings us all together as one is the fact that we are all proud to be Americans and proud of our Baltic Heritage as Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians.

Three years ago, we came together under the auspices of the Baltic American Society of New England to plan and organize the Baltic Centennial in Boston 2018 with the goal of showcasing and honoring our rich cultural heritage during a weekend full of exciting events to recognize and honor the 100-year anniversary of Baltic independence.

Local Events / Boston

Throughout their long and tumultuous history, these three small nations have managed to sustain their individual cultural and linguistic identifies.

It is with great appreciation, pride, and joy that we have come together to host this weekend-long unique Centennial event in Boston, a city deeply steeped in its own national history.

Cultural Diversity

Over three days, guests can celebrate our global cultural diversity by listening to expert speakers (including a Nobel Prize Laureate and State Department Advisor), watching award-winning foreign films, shopping at a Baltic Marketplace, participating in folk dances and attending concerts.

As Boston continues to encourage inclusivity and community, we hope to open eyes and hearts to the Baltic culture.

Arts & Culture

Guests of the Baltic Centennial events will have the opportunity to learn culture through art at the Two-Day Baltic Centennial Art Exhibit.

This exhibit will showcase modern artwork by current artists from all three Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Between the hours of 11am and 6pm on Friday and Saturday, guests can visit the historic art exhibit that will also display ethnic treasures
