The City of Quincy and Mayor Thomas P. Koch are ringing in the holiday season with a series of family-friendly events all weekend long.

First, get in the spirit with the Holiday Festivities & Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 25th from 5:00-7:00pm on the Hancock Adams Common.

Entertainment will include strolling carolers, fire shows, costumed characters and letter writing to Santa, all while snacking on popcorn and hot chocolate.

There will also be a performance by Lori Regan, Mark Carey and Shayna Mical from Dick n Jane.

Join Mayor Koch and a special guest from the North Pole as they flip the ceremonial switch to bring the holiday spirit to Quincy with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:15pm.

On Saturday, November 26th, eager children will gather at Pageant Field at 12:00pm to await Santa’s Arrival by Parachute!

After Saint Nick makes his grand entrance, children will have the chance to meet him and his elves during this unique Christmas tradition.

Finally, bundle up and park your chairs in your favorite spot for the 69th Annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, November 27th from 12:00-3:30pm.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Hancock Street and the Walter J.

Hannon Parkway and will continue up Hancock Street to North Quincy High School.

Generations of Quincy residents gather each year along the 2.7-mile route to watch hundreds of Christmas-themed floats, marching bands and even Mr. Claus himself make their way through town.

Each of these events is free and open to families and children of all ages.

Letters to Santa can be placed in “Santa’s Mail Box” at all
of the weekend’s festivities or at City Hall through late December.
