Every step makes a difference in the lives of cancer patients, researchers, caregivers and families.

To register for the 2015 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai on Sept.

27, or to support a walker, visit www.JimmyFundWalk.org or call (866) 531-9255.

Full Summary:
The more than 8,500 participants in last year’s Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai took enough steps to circle the planet four times.

Every one of those steps made a difference in the lives of cancer patients, researchers, caregivers and families.

This year’s goal?

To go even further and take more steps – in distance, participation and fundraising – for all types of cancer care and research.

The 2015 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk is Sunday, Sept.

27 - register at www.jimmyfundwalk.org.

“Every step we take represents a scientist’s breakthrough, a caregiver’s comforting touch, a donor’s generosity, or a walker’s commitment,” said Zachary Blackburn, Assistant Vice President, Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.

“Thanks to our devoted walkers, we’re making great progress against cancer, but we still have more to achieve.

We hope everyone considers joining the Walk this year.

Once you participate, you’ll want to come back.”

The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk is the nation’s most successful single-day fundraising walk.

In 2014, walkers raised more than $8 million for the Jimmy Fund, bringing the 26 year fundraising total to more than $100 million for adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, including its precision cancer medicine.

Precision medicine makes diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases more accurate.

It uses the specific genetic makeup of a patient’s tumor to select the safest and most effective treatments for them.

The Details
The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk is the only event other than the Boston Marathon that is sanctioned by the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) to use the official marathon name and historic 26.2-mile route.

Walk participants can choose from four route options: 3-miles, 5-miles, 13.1-miles and the full 26.2-mile Boston Marathon route from Hopkinton to Copley Square.

All routes end at the Copley Square finish line in Boston.

Walkers support one another as they join friends, survivors, caregivers, family members, medical professionals and celebrities throughout the day.

They’re treated to 12 refueling stations along the course as well as a celebration at the finish line with food, music, and a speaking program.

All walkers commit to raise a minimum of $300 in contributions, except for walkers 12-years-old and younger whose fundraising commitment is $100.

Pacesetters are extraordinary fundraisers who raise $1,500 or more.

There is also a Virtual Walker option for those unable to attend the Walk on September 27 but who still want to support the cause.

To register for the 2015 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai on Sept.

27, or to support a walker, visit www.JimmyFundWalk.org or call (866) 531-9255.

Registration is easy and walkers can enter the discount code NEWS for $5 off.
