Since first launched in 2009, this program has helped prepare nearly 18,000 kids in Boston for the winter season.
The event will be a kickoff for the 2019 Coat Boston program that will include an afternoon of celebration, live music, and fundraising at Bella Luna & The Milky Way in Jamaica Plain.
Proceeds will allow these coats to continue to be provided to Boston children into the future.
Our goal this year is 2,000 brand new coats, hats, and gloves.
The overarching goal of Coat Boston is to help children whose families have limited resources attend school regularly, arrive warm and ready to learn, to enjoy playing outside in cold weather, and to let them know that Boston cares about them.
For over 200 years, City Mission has been a leader in supporting the people of Boston.
Rooted in our faith, we continue to be a vibrant organization with an overarching focus to prevent family homelessness.
Founded by members and clergy leaders of Old South Church UCC and Park Street Church in response to the hardship facing Boston residents, City Mission has served the educational, economic, and social needs of impoverished residents since 1816.
Since its inception, City Mission has acted as the conscience of the community, often pioneering key social programs that later have become separate nonprofit agencies.
