WE ARE BRINGING LISC STORY SLAM TO YOU!
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2020
Live + Online
7:00p.m.

Story Slam on October 15 is an evening of storytelling to benefit LISC Boston. LISC’s second annual Story Slam will share compelling personal stories from community members and LISC partners responding to our theme “This Moment.”

Their stories, filled with humor, pain, energy, love and more, will offer perspectives on this extraordinary moment in time and what it means for our collective work creating stable, affordable and healthy housing and economic opportunity; building financial stability, promoting racial equity and building thriving communities.

You can host a party of two, six or ten to join you while practicing social distancing and watch the live-streamed event from the comfort of your home.

Your “Party in a Box” will include a Mei Mei Dumpling Making Kit (everything you need for your party to cook pre-prepared dumplings, your choice of pork or vegan fillings - all you have to do is fill, fold and cook), plus dessert, wine, Story Slam swag, and more.

The event begins with a pre-event chef demonstration by James Beard nominated chef Irene Li, owner of Mei Mei, to guide preparation of the dumplings received in your “Party in a Box.” Then link in to our live Virtual Story Slam event which promises to be a passion-filled interactive virtual experience you’ll never forget.

Story Slam will honor Paul S. Grogan, President & CEO of The Boston Foundation and former President and CEO of LISC, with the LISC Legacy Award. LISC President and CEO, Maurice Jones will present the award in recognition of the impact of his decades of commitment, innovation, vision and leadership building equity and investing in thriving communities, locally and nationally.
Segun Idowu, Executive Director of Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA) will receive a LISC Community Leadership Award for BECMA’s compelling and visionary leadership toward racial equity in Boston, setting a courageous path forward from this moment of crisis, protest and acknowledgment of structural racism towards a more just and inclusive Boston.
