IMPACT Melanoma, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to working to reduce the incidence of melanoma, is hosting their annual Shades of Hope Gala to help raise funds for the organization’s educational awareness programs and initiatives.

The big change this year is that, in light of the state of the world with the ongoing pandemic, IMPACT will switch gears this year and host the event virtually.

Shades of Hope will take place on Saturday, November 7th at 8:30pm (8:00pm for VIP sponsors).

This year IMPACT is excited to welcome Ziggy Marley in as the event’s headliner.

An eight-time GRAMMY® winner, EMMY® winner, humanitarian, singer, songwriter and producer, Ziggy Marley has released fifteen albums to much critical acclaim.

His early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father, Bob Marley.

Also, back by popular demand is TV and radio personality, Billy Costa who will emcee the evening’s festivities.

On top of the world-class entertainment and the always lively online auction (which includes a 10-day/9-night expedition for two exploring the Galápagos Islands with Lindblad Expeditions aboard the National Geographic Endeavour II), the evening will also feature the presentation of the annual Suzanne Donahue Keeper of the Hope Award, an honor bestowed to someone who has made outstanding contributions to the world of melanoma awareness and prevention.

Suzanne Donahue lost her battle with melanoma in 2012.

She journeyed long and hard, but did so with grace, love of life and hope.

It is this passion and inspiration that is recognized through this award.

This year's Keeper of the Hope honorees are Missy and Dan Abbott – the first duo to take home the award.

“Each year the Board of Directors of IMPACT Melanoma awards the Keeper of the Hope Award to a member of our IMPACT community whose generosity, vision and commitment to the organization over time is unwavering,” said IMPACT Melanoma Executive Director, Deb Girard.

“This year is slightly different in that we’re honoring a well-deserving husband and wife dynamic duo, who, together epitomize exactly that.

Unwavering commitment and care, just as we are about the work that we do daily.

We’re so pleased to present Missy and Dan Abbott with this award, and are really looking forward to celebrating with everyone in this new and exciting virtual environment!

Put on some comfy clothes, and grab your favorite spot on the couch!”

While there is no dress code per se, IMPACT is encouraging patrons to sport their favorite mask and take place in their first virtual contest for the chance to win a sunscreen dispenser in a mutually agreed upon location, and an IMPACT Melanoma Swag Bag.

All attendees of the Gala have to do is decorate a face mask and send IMPACT a picture of themself wearing it.
