The Glass Flowers exhibition is now open again, following extensive model and case restoration, space renovation, and the installation of state-of-the-art lighting and display features.

One of the Harvard's most famous treasures is the internationally acclaimed Ware Collection of Blaschka Glass Models of Plants, the “Glass Flowers.'

This unique collection of over 4,000 models, representing more than 830 plant species, was created by glass artisans Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka, a father and son from Dresden, Germany. The commission began with only a few models in 1886 and continued for five decades.

5-starGlass Flowers Exhibit
i saw this exhibit over 40yrs ago as a school kid, and the memory has remained with me all this time. someone has posted a 5min. video tour of the exhibit on YouTube - a google search will find it for you. take your kids to this exhibit - some of them will never forget it !
5-starGlass Flower Exhibit
I saw this over 30 years ago and was so delighted with it. The realism was just fantastic and it clearly showed the development of the flower from bud to full bloom. I am not sure exactly when these were produced and how they fit into the development of Art Nouveau glass, but each item was just a gem in and of itself. If you loved the Lalique Iris (made of sapphires at the Walters), you will love these as well. Just a breath of spring time any time.

Absolutely astonishing! The marriage of artistry and engineering is breathtaking. A must see. I would recommend this for older children.
