Did you know that Holliston received Green Community status in December 2015?

Thanks to earning that status, the town was awarded $147,445 to complete energy efficiency projects aimed at reducing municipal energy consumption.

Want to know what was the money used for and what effect is it starting to have on our town’s bottom line and our environment?

Where are we going next?

Join us Saturday, May 6, 10:30 am-noon in the Gilman Room at Holliston Public Library.

During the forum, panelists will discuss the Green Community program in Massachusetts and specifically what the money was used for in Holliston and the effects on the town’s bottom line and the environment.

Kelly Brown, Central Region Green Community Coordinator, will discuss the Green Community Program as well as provide data from a case study detailing this program’s cost savings potential and environmental impact.

Jeff Ritter, Holliston Town Administrator, will provide an overview of the Holliston Green Community plan, discuss the projects already completed with the initial grant money as well as provide findings on how this program has saved money for the town of Holliston.

About the Speakers:
Kelly Brown is no stranger to the environmental movement and going green; she has been the Central Regional Green Community coordinator for the Department of Energy Resources since July 2009.

Prior to joining the Green Community program, Kelly served as a lead administrator in the Commonwealth Solar initiative, a program aimed at providing 250 megawatts of solar power by 2017.

Jeff Ritter has served as the Holliston Town Administrator Since July of 2015 and was part of the final application process for the Holliston Green Community program.

Jeff has several years of experience working with towns in the capacity of Administrator; prior to joining Holliston, he worked as the town Administrator for Rehoboth since 2011.
