The MLK Memorial Breakfast Committee is partnering with Northeastern University to reimagine the breakfast as a virtual event that will include a multifaceted, passion-filled celebratory program, and an extended program of virtual rallies and teach-ins.
The virtual event will appeal beyond Massachusetts to a global audience, who will celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy of social justice under this year’s theme The Arc towards Justice: Unfinished Business.

Today, we must strive for unalienable freedoms for ourselves and others—no matter one’s race, color or creed. For us to prosper as a community, we must celebrate, embrace, and promote unity. In addition to the keynote address, highlights of the virtual event will include these inspirational speakers and programs:
Kimberly Atkins, senior correspondent for WBUR, will lead us through the celebration.
Cleveland Sellars, colleague and friend from SNCC, will pay tribute to the late Honorable John Lewis.
Segun Idowu, executive director of the Black Economic Council, will moderate a compelling conversation with elected leaders of Massachusetts.
Joseph E. Aoun, President of Northeastern University, will offer comments about the importance of diversity and inclusion. Teach-ins by local civic organizations on civic organizing; voter engagement will continue throughout the day.
